Alpha Dog Training

“We adopted an 8 week old adorable girl puppy from the Salt Lake City Humane Society. They said she was a Lab. We named our new puppy “Zoe.” However, as time went on Zoe started to look more and more like she had some Pit Bull in her. We didn’t mind that because she was so sweet and loving at home. But Zoe started to show aggression on walks. She gradually started to lunge at and try to attack small dogs. We tried everything to try to curb the behavior but it only got worse. Zoe began attacking bigger dogs. We began to fear that one of these larger dogs would hurt Zoe. When Zoe went after other dogs we would yank her back on the leash and yell at her to “stop!” Our approach to correcting this and other behaviors did not help at all. Unfortunately, Zoe became more and more aggressive. Fortunately, we heard some good things about Alpha Dog Training from friends and decided to give them a call. Marshall, the owner, answered the phone. This guy turned out to be an expert! We chatted awhile about Zoe’s problems and learned that it was OUR actions that made Zoe’s aggression worse. We invited Marshall over and were amazed as his modern positive reinforcement techniques fixed Zoe’s problems. I must tell you that we were originally thinking of putting Zoe down because of her aggression. But Marshall’s education helped us keep our little girl to stay on the right path. We stopped yanking on the leash and pulling things out of Zoe’s mouth. This, along with other secrets Alpha Dog Training shared with us brought Zoe’s aggression to a halt. Zoe no longer has dog aggression or separation anxiety. Now Zoe is a great doggie citizen when we encounter other dogs. Thanks to Marshall we now know dog language and how to actually communicate with Zoe. What a blast! We are fortunate to have selected Alpha Dog Training and highly recommend them. Our Shitzu, Dozer, was pulling on the leash, needed potty training and was biting. Our course, Dozer is only 12 weeks old and is our first dog. We were very lucky to find Alpha Dog Training! They did at-home, one-on-one training and put our minds at ease. We were so worried about not being able to train Dozer. Marshall spent many hours helping us and training Dozer. He really fixed Dozer's issues quickly and we now know how to continue to properly train our baby! i would recommend Alpha Dog Training to anyone who wants a professional and honest dog trainer! This guy is a very well-learned trainer. He knows a lot about dogs, and the type of training he does- he made me feel much more comfortable with the idea of chain collar training. He achieved this mostly by training us (the owners). He just really oversold himself. When I called to inquire about training he said, "Well I can work with all those problems, and by the end of our session your dog will be FIXED," with that emphasis himself. All of the reviews online gave me the same impression. His solution to, "We're worried about our dog and his aggression towards other dogs," was, "Well, if you stop playing aggressive games with him (ie: Tug of war), and continue training him in my style it will eventually fall by the wayside." Truthfully, I don't think that seems like my dog was FIXED. He teaches you a lot, he's kind, and honest, and seems to be good at his job, but I was rather put off by his overselling claims versus the reality of our interaction with him. Just know, he will leave a lot of it up to you, again, this is not a bad thing- I think this is often how training goes (I've never used a trainer before, so I'm uncertain), but for someone who didn't know, and who was hoping for the "brand new dog!" every other review talked about, it just wasn't what I was expecting.
