Alex Himel Certified Dog Trainer

My review will be long. So please read it if you are seriously looking for a dog trainer who knows what he is doing. I have a female 5 years old Pekingese who was rescued from puppy mill. She is my first dog and we adopted her about two weeks ago. I understand that rescued dog, especially from puppy mill, takes time and patience. I spent two weeks side by side with her and gained her trust. She fully trust me now and she behaves really well outside. Right around two weeks passed, she started to bark aggressively to all the visitors and noises coming from the entrance. Unfortunately she bit my relatives(nothing serious, it’s a small scratch). It was my relatives’s fault that he didn’t stop approaching to her while she was barking aggressively. But even so, the fact that she can bite was a red flag for me. I was desperate and was looking for a trainer who can come to our home. I read his reviews and all 5 stars from over 30 people was kind a suspicious. But I was desperate, so I reached out to him. He responded immediately and he came to my house almost 30 minutes after I had a call with him (I live near him). His training was AMAZING and AMAZING. I watched so many YouTube videos and all kinds of tutorial how to train your dog. Unless you are a real Cesar from Dog Whisper, you need Alex. He knows what your dog needs and he keeps my baby safe while he did an effective training. After 1.5 hours of training, I could see a huge difference in her behavior. She stopped barking and she became more calm with the visitors. He also shared with me how to continue the training at home. His service fee is very affordable too. He charges per session, not per hour. Considering he comes to your home and he does all kinds of training, I thought it’s too reasonable price. If you are looking for the dog trainer in Long Island or NYC area, just reach out to him! You will understand why he got all the five stars in reviews!

I recently adopted Onyx, a 3-year-old pittie mix from the Brookhaven Animal Shelter, and they recommended Alex when I inquired about a trainer. From our very first phone call, Alex took the time to listen and ask thoughtful questions about what I knew of Onyx’s background and what I had observed during the short time he’s been with me. During our first visit, which lasted about 2½ hours, Alex patiently explained different training techniques and even made videos for me to reference later. He paused frequently to be sure I understood each step and felt comfortable with the process. I’m currently waiting for the control leash and collar he recommended so we can continue building on the great foundation we’ve started. I truly appreciate Alex’s knowledge, patience, and care for both Onyx and me — it’s made such a positive difference already.
