Matt is an amazing trainer! I would definitely recommend him as a trainer. My boyfriend and I have a Siberian Husky who had major behavioral problems. He would not listen at all. He was constantly eating the furniture, jumping on everyone and everything, he didn’t listen when it was time to come inside and I would eventually have to carry him in the house, and he would cry and scream when it was time to put him in the crate if we were leaving or going to bed. We didn’t know what to do but after looking for trainers, we came across Matt’s website. After meeting with him and having him go over a few training techniques with our puppy, we knew he would be a big help. When we got the puppy back, we could see a huge change in his behavior. When Matt started his training, our puppy was 6 months old. He is now 13 months and is still just as great as when we got him back. He listens on the first command, there’s no longer a struggle to come inside or go in his crate, and now he understand were the boss.

My dog Chloe is 6 years old and I needed help. She’s a Newfoundland mix who had never been off leash because she wouldn’t come when called and was very unsure of strangers. Sweet with me just not strangers and she didn’t listen to me so I couldn’t trust she’d be ok around anyone new. Matt was referred by a friend who raved about how amazing he was for her 2 puppies and I was skeptical because my dog is a rescue I got when she was 4 months old and spent 5.5 years struggling to find a way for her and I to be ok. I can’t explain just how amazing our experience has been with Matt at Alert Canine. Chloe is now off leash in the yard while I work and doesn’t chase anything that moves. We walk side by side and she is comfortable meeting people and other dogs!! I swear I didn’t know if it was going to be possible but here we are. I recommend Alert Canine to everyone I know. My husband and I were struggling with our two year old German Shepherd Dog, Shane. She was exhibiting extreme anxiety in social situations, leash aggression, and she bit the first trainer we hired, who then promptly, and understandably, quit. We were unable to bring Shane anywhere off-property, for fear of unfavorable interactions with other dogs and people. We then turned to Matt, of Alert Canine Training Solutions. Matt took Shane for a three week Board & Train and instilled in her all the confidence and structure that she needed to be a good dog out in the big world. Matt also gave us all the knowledge we need to keep up Shane's training; he gave us in-person training lessons with instructive feedback, resulting in us communicating more effectively with Shane. He also gave us a detailed dvd of him training Shane that we can watch going forward and use as a reference tool. This past weekend we took Shane to spectate with us at a very busy horse show. There were hundreds of people in attendance, and many dogs, of all shapes, sizes, and personalities. We spent four days at the horse show and Shane was incredible each and every day. She exhibited no leash aggression, in fact when other leashed dogs lunged at her, she ignored them and focused on us instead. She heeled all through the show grounds and was a perfect partner. Many people commented on what a well trained dog we had, and our hearts were bursting with pride - thank you, Matt! We now feel confident taking Shane anywhere and everywhere and we're so excited at the big future we now have with this dog. We should have gone to Matt sooner!!! I'm a first time dog parent so I didn't know what to expect. Milo is a beautiful, mild mannered, 2 year old Goldendoodle, but would take off as soon as the door opened. He had undesirable door manners, too. We could never take Milo off the leash, but after 3 weeks of training Milo listens. He never takes off and when a guest arrives we tell Milo, "Place!" and off he goes to his designated place. He knows what he has to do!! Additionally, he is off leash which we could never dare do before training. Matt's services are well worth the investment and I would highly recommend him.
