Hired them to help train my Cane Corso puppy. We were looking for a home personal trainer . Called multiple trainers and was upfront with them she was very fearful, and high anxiety. I knew it was going to be a life long struggle and did not expect miracles just wanted her to be able to walk on a leash and have the best life possible. Called and spoke with Tara was realistic did not make false promises which I appreciated. We agreed and she set us up with Scott to start training. At first Scott seemed positive and thought he could help. It took about 4 weeks and I was finally able to see some progress and i was excited. i was able to walk her around the block without her freaking out and pulling to get back home baby steps. Somewhere around 6 weeks things changed. Lessons became unreliable. First there was a supposed car accident, that lesson got canceled at the last minute. Next week he was late because he was picking up the rental car, again notified last minute.Then he wanted to change the day of our lesson because he picked up another client in the area, that’s when his attitude changed. I was not able to switch and you could tell he was not happy.Then he completely blew me off no call just didn’t show up for our scheduled lesson. They have a strict cancellation policy so I made sure I was home even though my husband had emergency surgery that morning and I should of been at the hospital with him. I called Scott and he said one of his dogs was hurt and needed to take him for testing. He blamed the office saying they were supposed to notify me and he didn’t care and was not apologetic. Well after that he never showed up again which was fine with me I had enough of him. The following week I got a text saying he was sick and another trainer was coming. That would of been fine but she didn’t seem to know what we were working on. At the end of the last lesson which was 2 weeks previous, we had decided to start trying an E-Collar and we’re just beginning to start conditioning. Shelby had us trying to go on a walk and she kept turning up the intensity because my dog was not showing any reaction. My dog definitely was not ready for this and I have since learned that should of never happened. I think that lesson caused more harm then good. I ended up calling the office and speaking with Tara who again who was kind and apologized for what happened. She also informed me it was Scott’s responsibility to call me not the office. She set up for Mike another trainer to come out for the final 2 lessons that we had paid for. Mike was really good and I wished we had him from the beginning things would of probably gone differently. He was patient and helped us learn how to use the E-Collar properly. My dog is still a work in progress and considering looking for another trainer. Definitely do not recommend Scott or Shelby from Akela K-9 Services

Alyssa is fantastic! We adopted a five month old puppy early March. I called Akela to obtain assistance in basic puppy obedience training. We were paired with Alyssa. She came to our home and did a consultation. We also decided right after that consultation that we would like to go with her for training. She travels quite the distance to come to our home. She is fantastic with our puppy and with our nine-year-old yellow lab. We have had a lot of issues with our puppy being entirely too rambunctious with our older lab and Alyssa has been fantastic and helping us address/work with those issues while assisting with puppy training the other half of the time. Every time she has come here, both of our dogs are ecstatic to see her. She is a breath of fresh air that comes into our house. Her dedication, kindness, and passion for what she does is quite transparent. We appreciate Alyssa so much for working with us and for already being able to see results in our puppy. So glad we ended up going with Akela & Alyssa. Good not think of anyone better! Thank you, Alyssa!!

Alyssa is the only person on this planet I will ever trust with our dog. She is wonderful with our dog, she cares for him, gives him love when she trains and boards him and taught him how to be gentle and well behaved while still being playful and maintaining his personality. All of our success with our dog we owe to Alyssa!!! We would be nowhere without her and i literally would never be able to travel if we didn’t have her because I can’t imagine ever leaving him with anyone else. She is absolutely the best dog trainer and you should not hesitate to seek her out for your pets!
