How do I potty train my new dog?

At Agoge K9 LLC, we understand that potty training your new dog can be a challenging and time-consuming process. However, with the right techniques and consistent effort, you can successfully potty train your pup and establish good habits that will last a lifetime. The first step in potty training your dog is establishing a consistent routine. This means feeding your dog at the same times each day and taking them outside for potty breaks on a regular schedule. Most puppies will need to go outside to potty every 2-3 hours and shortly after waking up, after meals, and before bedtime. When you take your dog outside for potty breaks, it's important to choose a designated spot and use a specific command, such as "go potty," to help them understand what you want them to do. Be patient and give them ample time to sniff around and find the right spot. Consistency is key in potty training, so reward your dog with plenty of praise and treats when they go potty in the right spot. On the other hand, if your dog has an accident inside, it's important to clean it up thoroughly and avoid punishing them, as this can lead to anxiety and other behavioral issues. Finally, it's essential to supervise your dog closely when inside, especially during the early stages of potty training. This may mean keeping them in a crate or confined area when you cannot supervise them directly. At Agoge K9 LLC, we offer a variety of training programs to help you and your dog establish good habits and overcome behavioral challenges. Our experienced trainers can work with you to develop a customized training plan that meets your specific needs and goals. Contact us today to learn more about our services and how we can help you and your dog succeed.

Question on Google
How do I choose the right dog for my family?

Choosing the right dog for your family can be daunting, but with careful consideration and research, you can find the perfect match. Here are some tips from Agoge K9 LLC to help you choose the right dog for your family: Consider your lifestyle: Before choosing a dog, consider your lifestyle and what type of dog would fit in best. Do you have an active lifestyle and enjoy spending time outdoors? Then a high-energy dog like a Border Collie or a Labrador Retriever might be a good fit. A smaller dog, like a Chihuahua or a French Bulldog, might be better if you live in an apartment with limited space. Consider your family members: If you have young children, it's important to choose a gentle and patient dog with kids. Breeds like Golden Retrievers, Labradors, and Beagles are known for their friendly and playful personalities and are great with kids. Research breeds: Research different breeds to learn about their temperament, exercise needs, and health issues. This will help you narrow down your choices and choose a breed that fits your family well. Consider adopting a dog from a local animal shelter or rescue group. These dogs are often already trained and socialized, and adopting a dog can be a rewarding experience. Meet the dog: Once you have narrowed your choices, spend time with the dog before bringing them home. This will allow you to see if the dog is a good fit for your family and if you are a good fit for the dog. Remember, choosing the right dog for your family is important and should not be taken lightly. You can find the perfect match for your family with careful consideration and research. If you have trouble training your dog, seek professional help from a qualified dog trainer at Agoge K9 LLC.

Question on Google
What are some common behavior problems in dogs, and how do I prevent them?

As a dog owner, it is important to be aware of common behavior problems that can arise in dogs and take preventative measures to address them. Here are some common behavior problems in dogs and ways to prevent them: 1. Aggression - Aggression in dogs can result from fear, anxiety, territorial behavior, or poor socialization. To prevent aggression, it is important to socialize your dog from a young age, avoid harsh punishments, and seek professional help if aggression becomes a problem. 2. Separation anxiety - Dogs with separation anxiety may become destructive or anxious when left alone. To prevent separation anxiety, gradually introduce your dog to being alone, provide plenty of exercises and mental stimulation, and consider crate training. 3. Excessive barking - Excessive barking can be a nuisance to you and your neighbors. To prevent excessive barking, provide adequate exercise and mental stimulation, teach your dog a “quiet” command, and avoid rewarding barking behavior. 4. Destructive chewing - Dogs may engage in destructive chewing behavior out of boredom, anxiety, or a lack of proper chew toys. To prevent destructive chewing, provide plenty of appropriate chew toys, supervise your dog whenever needed, and provide plenty of exercise and mental stimulation. 5. Jumping up - Dogs may jump up on people out of excitement or a desire for attention. To prevent jumping up, teach your dog to sit or stay when greeting people, avoid rewarding jumping behavior, and provide plenty of exercises and mental stimulation. Being aware of common behavior problems and taking preventative measures can ensure your dog is well-behaved and happy. If you are having trouble addressing any behavior problems in your dog, seek professional help from a qualified dog trainer or behaviorist like Agoge K9 LLC.

Question on Google
What should I feed my new dog?

As a dog training and boarding company, Agoge K9 LLC understands the importance of proper nutrition for your new furry family member. The right diet is essential for maintaining your dog's health and well-being. When selecting food for your dog, it's essential to consider their age, breed, activity level, and any health conditions they may have. Generally, a high-quality, balanced diet that meets your dog's nutritional needs is key. One option is to feed your dog with commercial food that meets the Association of American Feed Control Officials (AAFCO) standards. These foods have been formulated to provide your dog with the appropriate balance of nutrients. Look for a high-quality protein source as the main ingredient, such as chicken, beef, or fish. Avoid foods with fillers or byproducts, as these do not provide the same level of nutrition. You can also consider a raw food diet consisting of raw meat, fruits, and vegetables. This diet can provide a variety of health benefits for your dog, including improved digestion, healthier skin and coat, and a stronger immune system. However, it is important to properly handle and prepare raw food to avoid any health risks for both you and your dog. No matter what type of diet you choose for your dog, always provide them with fresh, clean water and monitor their weight and overall health. Consult with a veterinarian or a canine nutritionist to determine the best diet for your dog.

Brian and Ashley at Agoge K9 were great to work with. We took our dog to board and train and the results are amazing. They had great communication during the whole process. We received weekly update videos showing the progress our dog was making and things he was working on. Ashley not only brought out the best in our dog but taught us how to have a better relationship with him as well. So glad we found Agoge and would highly recommend them to others.

We had a phenomenal experience with Agoge. The training provided to our pup Sadie exceeded expectations. Brian (owner) took hours of his time walking us through the training process before we even signed the contract and also provided us with additional guidance after Sadie graduated to help with her transition. This is the place to go! I mean who else would stand by their work for the life of the dog and provide unlimited access to video content as well as live meetings every weekend? If we have questions our call gets returned in minutes. The best part is he cares! Sadie isn't showing the same behaviors she was before. If I've struggled with her it's because I did something wrong and he's quick at pointing that out and correcting me. I cannot say enough great things about Brian or his amazing trainer Ashley! Both are super knowledgeable, personable, and really know what they are doing! Couldn't be happier with the services provided!

Our Irish Doodle is a love but is very high energy and was very hard to manage. Walking him was no fun. It was like trying to land a 150 lb tuna. We first had a phone call with Brian where he explained his process in detail. Then. We took Myron to meet with Brian where he spent an hour and a half walking us through the most minute of details. The following week we dropped Myron off for his 4 week board and train experience. Myron is home now and doing very well. Brian and Ashley are great and always available to answer any question and help us problems solve. We are very thankful and grateful to Agoge K9 LLC! I/we highly recommend!

Brian and trainers here are wonderful. Humans and dogs both treated with respect. We brought our puppy in for training and she was returned to us with full basic obedience.
