How do I potty train my new dog?
At Agoge K9 LLC, we understand that potty training your new dog can be a challenging and time-consuming process. However, with the right techniques and consistent effort, you can successfully potty train your pup and establish good habits that will last a lifetime.
The first step in potty training your dog is establishing a consistent routine. This means feeding your dog at the same times each day and taking them outside for potty breaks on a regular schedule. Most puppies will need to go outside to potty every 2-3 hours and shortly after waking up, after meals, and before bedtime.
When you take your dog outside for potty breaks, it's important to choose a designated spot and use a specific command, such as "go potty," to help them understand what you want them to do. Be patient and give them ample time to sniff around and find the right spot.
Consistency is key in potty training, so reward your dog with plenty of praise and treats when they go potty in the right spot. On the other hand, if your dog has an accident inside, it's important to clean it up thoroughly and avoid punishing them, as this can lead to anxiety and other behavioral issues.
Finally, it's essential to supervise your dog closely when inside, especially during the early stages of potty training. This may mean keeping them in a crate or confined area when you cannot supervise them directly.
At Agoge K9 LLC, we offer a variety of training programs to help you and your dog establish good habits and overcome behavioral challenges. Our experienced trainers can work with you to develop a customized training plan that meets your specific needs and goals. Contact us today to learn more about our services and how we can help you and your dog succeed.

Choosing the right dog for your family can be daunting, but with careful consideration and research, you can find the perfect match. Here are some tips from Agoge K9 LLC to help you choose the right dog for your family:
Consider your lifestyle: Before choosing a dog, consider your lifestyle and what type of dog would fit in best. Do you have an active lifestyle and enjoy spending time outdoors? Then a high-energy dog like a Border Collie or a Labrador Retriever might be a good fit. A smaller dog, like a Chihuahua or a French Bulldog, might be better if you live in an apartment with limited space.
Consider your family members: If you have young children, it's important to choose a gentle and patient dog with kids. Breeds like Golden Retrievers, Labradors, and Beagles are known for their friendly and playful personalities and are great with kids.
Research breeds: Research different breeds to learn about their temperament, exercise needs, and health issues. This will help you narrow down your choices and choose a breed that fits your family well.
Consider adopting a dog from a local animal shelter or rescue group. These dogs are often already trained and socialized, and adopting a dog can be a rewarding experience.
Meet the dog: Once you have narrowed your choices, spend time with the dog before bringing them home. This will allow you to see if the dog is a good fit for your family and if you are a good fit for the dog.
Remember, choosing the right dog for your family is important and should not be taken lightly. You can find the perfect match for your family with careful consideration and research. If you have trouble training your dog, seek professional help from a qualified dog trainer at Agoge K9 LLC.

What are some common behavior problems in dogs, and how do I prevent them?
As a dog owner, it is important to be aware of common behavior problems that can arise in dogs and take preventative measures to address them. Here are some common behavior problems in dogs and ways to prevent them:
1. Aggression - Aggression in dogs can result from fear, anxiety, territorial behavior, or poor socialization. To prevent aggression, it is important to socialize your dog from a young age, avoid harsh punishments, and seek professional help if aggression becomes a problem.
2. Separation anxiety - Dogs with separation anxiety may become destructive or anxious when left alone. To prevent separation anxiety, gradually introduce your dog to being alone, provide plenty of exercises and mental stimulation, and consider crate training.
3. Excessive barking - Excessive barking can be a nuisance to you and your neighbors. To prevent excessive barking, provide adequate exercise and mental stimulation, teach your dog a “quiet” command, and avoid rewarding barking behavior.
4. Destructive chewing - Dogs may engage in destructive chewing behavior out of boredom, anxiety, or a lack of proper chew toys. To prevent destructive chewing, provide plenty of appropriate chew toys, supervise your dog whenever needed, and provide plenty of exercise and mental stimulation.
5. Jumping up - Dogs may jump up on people out of excitement or a desire for attention. To prevent jumping up, teach your dog to sit or stay when greeting people, avoid rewarding jumping behavior, and provide plenty of exercises and mental stimulation.
Being aware of common behavior problems and taking preventative measures can ensure your dog is well-behaved and happy. If you are having trouble addressing any behavior problems in your dog, seek professional help from a qualified dog trainer or behaviorist like Agoge K9 LLC.

As a dog training and boarding company, Agoge K9 LLC understands the importance of proper nutrition for your new furry family member. The right diet is essential for maintaining your dog's health and well-being. When selecting food for your dog, it's essential to consider their age, breed, activity level, and any health conditions they may have. Generally, a high-quality, balanced diet that meets your dog's nutritional needs is key.
One option is to feed your dog with commercial food that meets the Association of American Feed Control Officials (AAFCO) standards. These foods have been formulated to provide your dog with the appropriate balance of nutrients. Look for a high-quality protein source as the main ingredient, such as chicken, beef, or fish. Avoid foods with fillers or byproducts, as these do not provide the same level of nutrition.
You can also consider a raw food diet consisting of raw meat, fruits, and vegetables. This diet can provide a variety of health benefits for your dog, including improved digestion, healthier skin and coat, and a stronger immune system. However, it is important to properly handle and prepare raw food to avoid any health risks for both you and your dog.
No matter what type of diet you choose for your dog, always provide them with fresh, clean water and monitor their weight and overall health. Consult with a veterinarian or a canine nutritionist to determine the best diet for your dog.

Agoge K9 is the REAL DEAL! Their board-&-train program turned our insecure, under-confident, and overreactive dog, Tucker, (who aggressively guarded his resources -- food, spaces and people) into a well-mannered and obedient canine companion!
However, now that we have him home, the REALLY tough work has just begun! WE NEED TO MEND our relationship with him, and WE NEED TO LEARN HOW TO LEAD him to give him a structured and balanced environment so that he can depend on us...no matter what!
Having him gone for six weeks was almost unbearable; however, getting the weekly video updates really helped to ease our anxiety and lift our spirits.
The trainers' journey with Tucker, however, was not an easy one either. He was a hard nut to crack in that he "shut down," went on a hunger strike, and just didn't "give a damn." To their credit, Abigail and Brian did NOT give up! Almost magically by the end of the 4th week, Tucker started to participate and actually showed interest in the training sessions. End of the 5th week, he was carrying his tail higher, and his gait was more bouncy and light. And by the end of the 6th week, his attitude was positively high, and he was obviously enjoying the training sessions!
My husband and I are incredibly grateful to Brian, Abigail, and the rest of the team at Agoge for the breadth of their combined knowledge, experience, integrity, and compassion! They TRULY put your dog's welfare first, realizing that each dog is an individual, and they take the necessary time to communicate and teach, not only your dog, but more importantly, YOU...and not just for a limited period of time, but for the LIFETIME OF YOUR DOG!!!
From the bottom of our hearts, THANK YOU!!

We recently rescued a 2 year old bloodhound, named Doug, from living in an apartment in CA. He is a sweet boy but had never really been expected to follow commands , walk on a leash without pulling like a Mack truck. I spent quick some time researching various trainers and believed we needed a board and train to help Doug be able to live his best life. While waiting for our drop off date I had worked daily to improve his leash skills and some basic obedience. But once he spent 4 weeks with Agoge K9 he is well on his way to living his best life and learning to be a part of our current pack. His ecollar has been a huge learning curve for me but with Brian’s help my abilities are improving each day. While life with a bloodhound comes with living with a nose that does not quit - Doug is getting better at following commands when needed rather than just his nose. I can’t say enough positive things about Brian, his knowledge, positive and proactive way to help dogs and their owners. He is there anytime I had a question or concern. Doug LOVED his time away at his “sleep away camp” training. I hi fly recommend Agoge K9 - Brian and his team are worth every penny !!

We can’t say enough good things about Agoge K9! They were kind and informative from the first phone conversation all the way until we picked our boy up. Our golden doodle Huck was having issues with aggression towards other dogs to the point that we thought we were going to have to rehome him. We are so glad we found Brian and his team. Abigail worked with him for 4 weeks and the change in him has been amazing. They kept us informed along the way with videos and text messages of his progress. We also learned a great deal about the mistakes we were making that was aiding in his behavior. Not only were they helpful while he was away at training, but they have only been a phone call away since he got home. We have had small issues arise that we wanted to be sure we were handling properly and they guided through what we needed to do to be successful. They have also made it very clear that they are committed to us for a lifetime and if we ever need extra training or in home training they are available to us. Our only regret about this experience was not doing it several years ago. I promise you that you will not regret choosing Agoge k9 training!
