I reached out to gather more information on prices of services, training methods used and the trainers background. I have had a handful of bad experiences with people who call themselves trainers in the past and because of this like to do my research. This industry isn’t regulated and there are a lot of people out there who just want to take your money. I was told that in order to have any of my questions answered, I needed to book a 29m consult at the cost of $40. In order to book a consult you have to create a page on their forum which includes vaccination records and pet profile among other things. As it was late at night, I did not have vaccination records on hand but the site allowed me to book telling me that if I wanted to continue with training I would need to provide vaccination information. Okay, that makes sense a consult is mostly just talking it is not training. My appointment was left pending. I had a crazy work week so I didn’t think to check my profile on their forum for messages but thought I would receive a text or email once it had been confirmed or if there were any issues. I never did. I checked the forum the morning of the day of my appointment to see if any communication was sent and if my appointment had been confirmed. There was one message there saying I needed to fill out vaccine information and complete my pet profile with a picture of my dog(“appointment pending” not confirmed). I replied saying I wasn’t aware vaccine info was needed for a consultation and that I was happy to add a picture of my pet if we decided to move forward with training after the consultation. As I’m on the phone with my vet having my dogs health records sent over to me, I ask if we should plan on the appointment. Our appointment if over four hours away and I get a message saying that my appointment was cancelled due to lack of vaccine information but that I was charged for it. I am also told there’s no possibility to reschedule or be refunded and that if I want another consultation it will be another $40. They do offer if I choose to train with them the $40 will be applied to the cost of a training package. Which I don’t know I even want at this point and now you ask for another $40 to even find out? They can’t tell me what the price range for their services are. They can’t tell me what methods they use to train. They can’t tell me what training they’ve had. They charge me for an appointment and then cancel it while I’m working on getting the paper work together I didn’t know I needed for a simple consult. They took my money on an appointment that was pending and never confirmed. They claimed they reached out multiple times but I got one message through their forum, no texts or emails. They couldn’t work with me and do the consult over the phone. They just charged me for it, cancelled it and refused to work with me unless I gave them more money. If you’re going to charge someone for your time, you should give them until their appointment to get their paper work in or do it over the phone. Due to the rise in cost of living in this area, a lot of us have to work so much more to make ends meet, which means I have way less time and money. It would have been really helpful to receive a simple text or email. It would have saved a lot of time and headache if they wouldn’t allow any appointment to be booked without vaccine information (especially if you’re requiring them consultations, not just for training). Things could have gone differently if the correspondence was kind or helpful, but it wasn’t. I understand paying for a professionals time but I want to work with someone who respects my time and resources too, not someone who’s just after my money and doesn’t care about my time.
