Academy of Dog Training and Agility

We love our weekly trip to training class and swimmies! So far I've worked with Carrie and John for basic manners and tricks, and love how laid back but also fun and educational the classes are. Looking forward to meeting other instructors and starting our journey towards agility. I am impressed by how many classes are offered on the schedule and can't wait to explore more! Having access to a dog pool year round is priceless. My girls love swimmies and now they don't need to wait until summer each year to swim again!

Most non-inclusive Dog community conversation I’ve ever had with someone attached to a facility. Biased on training methods. Biased on sports. Pool rental probably the only thing keeping the place open. Foundation of all dog sports should be obedience, hands-down. They don’t like obedience people… They’re too noisy? You know, because Julie Handler’s aren’t screaming in an oversized ring at their dog the whole time. Avoid it.

While John and Carrie offered many great tips for training my dog, I cannot give them a higher review for a couple reasons: 1. Communication. Several times throughout my 8 weeks of training, I tried to call or reach Carrie or John. I tried emailing and calling and leaving a voicemail. I never got a response. I found that very frustrating when I had a question or needed clarity on something, 2. Condescending tone. I often felt that I was being spoken to like a child when I was not getting some aspect of the training right. It was a tone of voice. I felt judged and uncomfortable many times throughout the training.
