A Better Canine 4 U

I met Pedro Araujo when I took a dog first aid course at EPCC. That was at least 25 years ago. Pedro is a dog behaviorist. He helped me with my dog, Bailey, who was a 2 year old rescue Great Dane. Bailey was fearful of everything and had to be muzzled for safety. With Pedro's guidance, we learned how to gain her trust and she was with us for 8 years. I always recommend Pedro to anyone whose pets are suffering a behavior issue.

My fiancé and I were recommended to Pedro through our veterinarian. Our dog Scout had been with a previous owner and as he grew up with us he became more in charge of our household. We couldn’t have any company over as he would be very upset and not stop barking. Over the span of a couple meetings with Pedro Scout started to slowly come around to taking orders from sitting to leaving things that were not his. Before meeting with Pedro we would sometimes have a very hard time even taking Scout out to go out as he would fight us on putting any kind of harness or collar. Now after his training he comes to us sits and allows us to put his collar on to go outside. These things seem small but if you have ever had a dog as rebellious as ours was you know it can dominate your life. We appreciate everything Pedro did for us and as anything that’s worth while it did take time as breaking habits is hard both for dogs as for people. We really do feel like we have our life back and that we have a dog who loves us but also respects us enough to listen to us as he knows we have his best interest in mind. He has been able to meet new people and other dogs now and have friends and although we still keep working our household is filled with moments that make us appreciate how good of a dog he always was. We just had to learn to speak his language in order for us to get to this point. I would highly recommend Better canine 4 U to anyone who loves their pet but has found that intuition has led to their dog acting out. We thought we had some idea on how to train a dog as we had others and had been able to but some cases are more specialized and require time patience and the correct game plan. Lastly for anyone getting or considering getting training please understand all dogs are different and sometimes these things take time and a lot of work on your end as an owner. A trainer helps guide you but what you as an owner do day in and day out will be what makes the difference. To get the most out of training Pedro will ask for days to be less windy. We have found that it does make a big impact to how Scout is trained when there is or is not wind. Obviously he will be in El Paso where wind does happen often but for a day of training to occur where you want your dogs 100 percent attention to get the most out of it. Some people do expect that after one session all problems will be solved. As in life I feel this is never the case, patience and consistency will be what makes long lasting change. Again thank you Pedro we are eternally grateful to have a peaceful life back and thank you for allowing the best parts of Scout show.

I was recommended to Mr. Araujo. Upon receiving info I reached out and it took weeks to get a meeting scheduled. I would reach out and he'd tell me he'd call back in an hour or that day and I would not hear from him until the next day or never. I would have to make efforts to keep reaching out. There was excuse after excuse with the saying, "Things Happen in Life". All this tells me is that Mr. Araujo lacks organizational and time management skills to run his business. He also stated that he can not work with dogs when it is windy. There were some days where the trees weren't even moving and he'd say it's windy. I just sent my doggie to another trainer and she stated along with another trainer that wind should never stop someone from training a dog unless we have 30 to 50 mile winds with dirt storms, but otherwise, it should not stop a trainer. Dogs mus learn to live with wind especially in El Paso In addition, he charged me half the costs of training my Australian Shepard and then only came one. His excuses were that the days were too breezy and windy yet a few of the days there was no wind. The trees weren't even moving. He also gave me some training methods for my Australian Shepard which were causing her to become more aggressive toward me and my other dog. She started peeing in places she had never peed on and was retaliating. I mentioned this to him and his response was you should have used me by texting or calling me as I am available 24/7 (but some days he wouldn't respond the entire day). 1st of all I didn't hire a 24/7 text/call Dog trainer. I hired a one on one onsite trainer. I expressed my unsatisfaction and requested he return a portion of my costs and he refused and didn't fulfill the trainings for the amount I paid upfront, a sign of a bad business owner because if you want to keep your customers happy even though that are unhappy you work around things and he refused. He was so upset he called animal control on me of which they found no form of abuse. I told him i was using an electric shock which are not illegal, but it was a vibrating collar, but he immediately reported me and used this as the excuse my dog was acting up, another sign of a bad business owner. PLEASE DO NOT TAKE YOUR DOGS TO THIS GENTLEMAN Unfortunately, I am taking him to court. I have found an AMAZING trainer if anyone is interested. She is WONDERFUL!!! My Kyra LOVES her!!! Highly recommend her! Husband is military. She was a Vet assistant for years so you know she loves to care for dogs
